Diversified landscapes and habitats
Located in the Indre Département, at the convergence point of Touraine, Poitou and Limousin, the Parc naturel régional of Brenne is home to 33,750 inhabitants on its 450,000 acres.
Made of many natural habitats, its most iconic is called Grande Brenne. With its 3,000 lakes, the Parc is one of France's largest continental wetland areas. Its ecological wealth is notorious. This territory has been registered since 1991 on the Ramsar Convention list for the conservation of wetlands and it's also part of Natura 2000 (a European network of protected areas).
Exceptional fauna and flora
Brenne houses remarkable fauna and flora endangered species.
Its many lakes (called "étangs") are an asset for biodiversity that can also strive in wild moorlands, meadows, forests, caverns and valleys.
